Speaking of the entertainment management company HYBE, known for housing popular boy and girl groups like BTS, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, and LE SSERAFIM, a recent complaint by a netizen on a social networking site alleging sexual harassment by a staff member during a HYBE boy band signing event has triggered widespread outrage online.
On the 8th, a post titled "Controversial fan meeting event, even held in front of group members" surfaced on an online discussion forum, capturing the attention of netizens who were eager to click and find out more.
The post features a tweet from a netizen who attended the HYBE boy group &TEAM autograph signing event. In the tweet, the netizen expresses her distress, stating that it was the first time in her life she encountered a situation where she was asked to undress for an underwear check during an autograph signing event.
Continuing, I said, "Even my mom hasn't touched my chest, and yet I was touched all over the side of my breasts by the staff member at the autograph session..." The netizen also mentioned that there was no time to react or fight back in that moment. Once the staff member finished explaining the checkup, they immediately began the physical touching.
The netizen further expressed that despite nothing being found in the end, the HYBE staff never offered an apology. What embarrassed the netizen the most was that the body search, including chest touching, was conducted right in front of the band members. It was a humiliating experience as the whole process was witnessed by their beloved idols.
Upon learning about the incident, netizens immediately expressed their anger, demanding to know, "Where are the human rights?" in their comments. They exclaimed, "Unbelievable! Are fangirls being stripped of their human rights?" "Shouldn't legal action be taken for this?" "Even airport security checks don't go to such extremes. This is absolutely outrageous!" Some even questioned the existence of human rights, raising concerns and frustration over the situation.
"Are they out of their minds? I have never experienced such a violation before." "This absolutely needs to be taken to court." "This is completely unacceptable." "Having to undergo such a search in front of my idol has brought great humiliation." "Aren't fangirls human beings too? Why are their rights being disregarded?" "This constitutes sexual harassment; it's time to take a stand and file a lawsuit." These are some of the angry voices expressing their outrage.
