The boy group, PENTAGON, launched by CUBE in 2016, has not only released a lot of highly popular works to date but also has a very distinctive music style, which is deeply loved by many KPOP fans. However, on the day before the group's seventh anniversary, CUBE announced that some members had ended their exclusive contracts, sparking a lot of discussion.
On the 9th of this month, PENTAGON's agency CUBE Entertainment stated, "Before the exclusive contracts of PENTAGON members expired, our company had a long conversation with the members. After careful discussions, members Yeo One, Yanan, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok have confirmed the end of their exclusive contracts with our company."
In addition, CUBE Entertainment also expressed deep gratitude to Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok for running together for 7 years in their statement, and gave warm encouragement and support to Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok, who are standing at the new starting line.
News of five PENTAGON members not renewing their contracts was immediately hotly debated in Korean forums. Many netizens lamented, "I really like PENTAGON's songs, but it's a shame. I hope everyone will do well in the future," "The agency has big problems, so does the issue of group members dating," "Members who haven't been involved in dating rumours are really innocent," "Shine is really good," "It feels like the group's capabilities are not fully utilized. I hope everyone will do well in the future."
However, some netizens commented, "So who is left in the group? Their popularity skyrocketed with 'Shine,' but the dating news completely threw them off track." They even brought up the disappointing dating news of four members, HUI, Hong Seok, Yuto, and E'Dawn, who openly admitted his relationship with his senior HyunA at the time, out of the ten members.
Many netizens lamented, "Four members being caught in a love affair five years ago was such a huge blow to the fans," "the impact of their love affairs was too huge," and "the company mishandled the whole love affair thing, it's a mess." They all collectively believe that these love affairs led to the downfall of the group.
In fact, earlier this year when team leader HUI decided to return to the show "BOYS PLANET", it sparked a lot of discussion. The group also took the opportunity to hold an offline concert in August of this year, but they were not able to survive the cruel reality and could not fully renew the contract, leading to deep regret among many fans.
