In the highly competitive KPOP industry, numerous idols and singers explore various avenues to advance their careers in the entertainment sector. Nevertheless, the presence of a company's support often plays a pivotal role behind these endeavors.

The management company serves a multifaceted role, encompassing not only the provision of resources and financial backing but also serving as a crucial catalyst for many artists to chart a steady path to development. As a member of a group, accumulating individual resources alongside group activities is equally vital.
Recently, Hyoyeon from Girls' Generation disclosed details on a web show about SM Entertainment's approach and policies regarding the release of solo albums by their artists. The moment this information surfaced, it ignited intense discussions on Korean online forums, sparking divergent viewpoints among netizens.

When asked if the company would definitely produce a solo album for an artist if they requested it, Hyoyeon said, "Actually, everyone knows that creating an album is not something that can be done in a day or two, but requires continuous investment. However, in reality, whether for a solo album or a group album, the amount the company invests is basically the same."
However, Hyoyeon also admitted, "No matter how you look at it, a group album would always sell better than a solo album. If it were me, I would also want to invest in a group". But when the company releases an album, it tends to develop based on the artist's suitability. So if I were to focus on performances today, then I would have to participate in even more activities.

Hyoyeon said, "If an artist does not do more activities, they basically can't pass the company's break-even point, so the company would hope that the artist can earn the money invested." "Therefore, the company respects the artist in this regard. As long as the artist wants to do something with passion, it will definitely support the activity."
The release of the program clip promptly triggered a wave of discussions among netizens. Comments ranged from, "This seems accurate. In smaller or medium-sized companies, even if the artist has the ambition, the company might lack the financial resources... It's better to be with a larger company," to "It's great that they continue to support artists as long as they're willing to pursue something," and "Honestly, SM consistently delivers high-quality albums, whether it's for groups or solo artists."
Others chimed in with praise, saying, "When it comes to female solo singers who excel in both singing and dancing, Hyoyeon's work always suits her. SM truly excels in tailoring their artists."
However, there were also netizens who held different perspectives, with comments such as, "SM seems to struggle with managing so many artists; their album promotions often feel incomplete," and "Even though they are under the same company, our idols don't face such issues." Another netizen added, "True, when it comes to SM's solo artists, this seems to be the case, but for their groups..." These differing viewpoints generated passionate discussions among the online community.
