Just as its rise to fame, FIFTY FIFTY is facing a sudden stump in its short career after being entangled in a feud with its label, ATTRAKT. Now, the K-Pop girl group is losing endorsement deals left and right.
Recently, FIFTY FIFTY reached a career milestone after it was chosen to be part of the original soundtrack of the “Barbie” movie alongside some of the industry’s biggest names like Ava Max, Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, Lizzo, and Nicki Minaj.
It was reported that FIFTY FIFTY was able to participate in the "Barbie" OST because its agency, ATTRAKT, signed a partnership with Warner Bros Music Korea. Warner Records had relatively little contact with K-pop singers before, but they were eager to promote FIFTY FIFTY because of their success with the song "Cupid."
Fans were ecstatic after hearing the good news, however, things went sour as of the writing of this article.
FIFTY FIFTY was supposed to film the music video for their song "Barbie Dreams ft. Kali” as part of the original soundtrack of the movie "Barbie." However, an exclusive report by Ilgan Sports revealed that the music video was eventually canceled due to the K-Pop girl group’s ongoing dispute with ATTRAKT.
In addition to the canceled “Barbie Dreams” music video, Ilgan Sports disclosed that FIFTY FIFTY was said to have been scheduled to appear in commercials with a global football star as well as on one of Korea’s biggest variety programs. FIFTY FIFTY has also lost an endorsement deal with a global electronics company following the issue.
Meanwhile, the dispute between the K-Pop girl group and ATTRAKT is still ongoing and as of now, it is still unclear how it will be resolved. Though one thing is for sure, the dispute has had a significant impact on the group’s once-promising career. It is also possible that it could further damage the group’s reputation and prospects for the future, especially with the recent expose made by Dispatch.
